Aids in the Sex Trade

Commercial sex is one of the main drivers of the AIDS epidemic. Sex workers and their clients are more likely to be exposed to HIV. The clients then bring the infection home to their wives or other sex partners.

An Interesting and Sad Article I found in regards to aids in the sex trade:

Concerns have been raised that Nepali women who were forced into the sex trade could be returning with Aids in large numbers.

A study released in the Journal of the American Medical Association revealed that around two-fifths of the girls who were trafficked abroad and return to the country have HIV.

Although only 287 ladies were tested, it is believed to be indicative of a wider problem. These sex slaves, some aged 14 and under, are often not welcomed by their families upon returning and are forced to resort to further prostitution.
